JET PACK, By TESSEL
Strut your stuff; literally in this futuristic backpack that uniquely changes it’s form with each new thing you place inside of it. Forward thinking Industrial Design students Aaron Puglisi and Daniel Shirley started a campaign on kickstarter to get Jet Packs to the people. Currently at $37,088 and rising as I write, just having to change the amount after refreshing the page. They’ve soared over their original goal of 17k, and have prototyped and made available for pre order all black Jet Packs. With such overwhelming support they have made a stretch goal of 40k to come out with a reflective backpack, there are 15 days left in their campaign. With a mission statement of “creating products that strengthen the emotional connections between the young professional and their childhood.” Young entrepreneurs Aaron & Daniel are surely going to make some positive waves in the world. Both have been designing backpacks, bags, and cases for a few years now, and love “good, clean, elegant design”. That suits their name well because Tessel is derived from the word tessellation; a tessellation is the tiling of a plane using one or more geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps. That is clean and elegant indeed. I expect big things in the future for the creators of Tessel, so keep an eye out and keep on creating!
Their description of the influences and idea for the Jet Pack were flawless so ill close with that.
“Influences for the form came from stealth jet planes and geometric building blocks, in connection with the nostalgic boyhood fascination with flight. While the bag encourages playfulness and creativity, the functional aspects of the bag are appropriate for the young professional.”
SPECS:
- Large zippered compartment
- Laptop sleeve with faux fur lining
- Pocket for an I pad
- Sleeves for pens and pencils
- Front zippered pocket
- External Dimensions – 16” X 11” X 4.5”
